Adelaide is the sweetest town in Australia. It is a city that was created to be perfect, literally. The center of the city is surrounded on all sides by lovely parks. There are nice beaches only 15 minutes from the city center. The weather is very pleasant pretty much always. Wine country is just to the north — and they have 5 major wine-growing regions all within 45 minutes of the CBD (central business district). There are tons of restaurants, cafes, shops, cute arcades and alleyways. It’s also where I met my husband in January 2019 (in a hostel dorm room, lolz) and where I lived for 3 weeks of January 2020.

What to do

PARKS: go to the botanical garden, walk along the river, go to the Japanese Himeji garden, just generally amble around all the ample parks that this city has on offer.

EAT: there are loads of tasty restaurants here (see all below) but I would definitely make sure to spend some time at the Central Market. There are tons of delicious vendors including a few amazing cheese vendors that you must pop over to for tastings. Oh and there is an insanely wonderful dessert shop in the southwest corner of the market that I would go to on the regular if I lived here. In the CBD, there is a chocolate shop called Haighs (pictured above) that makes the best sprinkle-covered milk chocolate drops in the worlddd.

BEACH: the beaches are easy to access by public transit and car. Favorites include Henley Beach and Glenelg.

WANDER: this is the ideal city for aimless wandering. pop in the shops. drink the coffee. eat the food. sit. stand. doesn’t matter. it all generally makes for a lovely time here in Adelaide. Oh and you could go to a cricket game at the Oval if that seems like fun to ya.
